5/26/2010 - Invest in yourself. Hire a business, life or marketing coach. Know what your goals are and allow them to help you achieve them and explore options. They hold you accountable, provide knowledge and encouragement, and act as a sounding board. Think of them as your own personal 'Jimminy Cricket". You will find that you have more in your business plans than you thought!
5/12/2010- Armed and Dangerous! Going out to an networking event? Be sure you have the right tools with you for make it effective. Name tag, check. Business cards, check. :30 second intro, check. Smile, check, GREAT attitude, check (and if you don't have this, you may want to consider a quick attitude adjustment or... passing until the next event). Everything in place? Now go get 'em! 4/28/2010 - Life is too short. Remember to consistently thank those you work with - your clients (past and present), vendors, strategic partners, your coffee guys - everyone. 4/21/2010 - Believe it or not, you need to have a strategy in networking. Decide what events you are attending on a weekly/monthly basis, decide what your goal is, and how you would like to accomplish that goal. Write it down and after your designated time frame, go back and analyze how you did. Make any changes or ...revisions, then set a new strategy if need be. 4/7/2010 - RSVP etiquette. Event coordinators depend on the rsvp counts for making sure that your event experience is the best - making sure there is enough food and drink, seating, marketing materials from sponsors, etc. It's OKAY to rsvp no or not attending if you know you won't be making it. I promise they will ...appreciate it more than counting on you being there and you not showing up. HAPPY SCHMOOZING!
3/31/2010 - Take time to develop and nurture relationships - be it online, in networking groups, with clients or prospects. Get to REALLY know the people. It's a proven fact that people work with and refer who they know and who they like. Be that person! HAPPY SCHMOOZING!
3/24/2010 - When attending events, be sure to have a networking GOAL .... be it finding a new strategic partner, meeting 5 new people, finding a true prospect, or simply building your database. At least you will have some direction for that event and you'll see how much more effective your networking can be.
3/17/2010 - Quality over quantity. Remember to develop relationships when adding people to your Twitter and Facebook.
3/10/2010 - ATTITUDE!! When going out networking, you must be confident, sincere, and have a good attitude We all have our off days, and it's okay to not be out when feeling that way. But nothing is worse than meeting someone at an event and you can tell they just don't want to be there. So before heading out, make... sure you have your basics - name tag, business cards and a GREAT ATTITUDE! HAPPY SCHMOOZING!
